Our goal is simple - to have every game every played in Mississippi on this web site.  Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it!

Some of the games are viewed using a Java applet.  You must have Java enabled to view those games.  We are working all moving all of the games to a HTML+Javascript display created by Chessbase - but it may be a while before they are all converted.

Most games can be found linked off the Results page along with tourament crosstables, reports, and pictures.

A few "special" games are listed below.  These games are usually deemed special because they were played outside of Mississippi, but they are of interest for some reason.

Warren Porter - Jude Acers, 1967 LSU Championship Playoff Game

Warren is a multi-time Mississippi State Champion and had an Expert rating at his peak, but Jude Acers is a 2400 rated senior master with a peak FIDE rating of 2554.  In 1967 they met in a playoff game for the LSU Championship.  Annotated by Warren himself.

Steve Perry @ 1992 US Action Championship

Steve Perry went 4-2 at the 1992 US Action Championship held near New Orleans.  This result was good enough to tie for 4th place and a 65 rating point gain.

Jimmy Hughes 1995 Saudi Arabia Championship Brilliancy Prize Game

Former MCA officer Jimmy Hughes worked in Saudi Arabia for several years.  This is a game he played in the 1995 Saudi Arabia Championship.  After the Masters went through the games for several months this is the one they selected for a Brilliancy Prize!  Jimmy gets a come from behind win.

Hughes vs Farrell Match III

This was the 3rd of 4 matches played between Jimmy Hughes and M.A. "Red" Farrell.  After Jimmy won the first match and MA the second, Jimmy comes back with a convincing 4.5-1.5 victory.
